Undertook longest CH47C flight to Malaysia to retrieve crashed RMAF S61 Nuri.
Left 25/8/80 from Amberley via Timor Sea through Indonesia, then to Butterworth over 5 days and returned to Amberley by the 09/09/80. A distance over 14000 kms.

Now registered as N401AJ, Under Certificate of Aircraft Registration, AC Form 8050-3 on the 22/08/2014, to Sky Cats Puma Corp which is located at Billings, Montana, USA. They operate a variety of Chopper including S-61 Fire Fighters.

 Delivered 03/74.
Served with 12 Sqn RAAF.
Damaged 26/06/75, when an engine blade from the number 1 engine separated on the Port side and landed heavily with the rear blades striking the mid fuselage at Mt Ebenezer in a paddock near Rosewood.
Returned to 3AD by Chinook A15-009 after weight reduction by removing engines, fuel amongst other things.
Said to be a write off, but the 3AD staff were allowed to tinker with it over 5 years.
Returned to 12 Sqn 25/05/81 with 241 flight hours.
Used in transferring containers during grounding of MV "Anro Asia" off Brisbane 07/07/81.

Total hours on sale to the USA 09/93 was 2074.1.

A15-102 CH-47D M.3451 93-0924 Delivered 01/95. Previously A15-002.
In Service 5th Aviation Regiment, C Sqn.
Named 'Centurion'. Name appears above the crew entry door and opposing window.
Experienced the heavy landing in Wednesday 25 June 2008 whilst making an approach at the Military Operations in Urban Terrain facility at the High Range Training Area, Townsville.
It was extensively repaired and returned to service in 2009 after approx 8 months
On 18/11/2009 Caribou A4-199 was airlifted by A15-102 back to Townsville.
A15-102 crashed on 30/05/2011 in Zabul Province, Afghanistan.
Lieutenant Mark Case was killed in the crash and 5 others injured. It was subsequently destroyed on the ground after it was deemed to be unsalvageable. "While we are yet to understand exactly what led to the incident, I am comfortable that the available evidence precludes insurgent small arms fire or rocket fire as a contributing factor" said Australian Chief of Joint Operations Major Gen Ash Power.

Previously A15-003.
Shown on the news and photographs on a Defence website as being with the ADF in the Gulf on operation Bastile and Falconer 03-04/2003.
In Service 5th Aviation Regiment, C Sqn.
Named 'Crusader'. Name appears above the crew entry door and opposing window.
In 2010 during deployment to Afghanistan it also carried artwork of "NAUGHTY 'N' NICE"
Damaged severely Afghanistan 22/06/2012 during landing at FOB Sarkari Karez when attached to Rotary Wing Group 7 (RWG 7).
Crew and passengers were slightly injured.

“It was first thought that A15-103 had ‘gone down’, sustaining only minor damage. The aircraft had sustained significant torsional damage to the main cabin area; severe sudden stoppage of the rotor system, which compromised all transmissions and drive-line components; and major damage to all landing gear components and associated airframe structural areas. Additionally, the ramp area located at the rear of the aircraft had received a significant impact which severely weakened the airframe structure supporting the aft transmission and aft pylon area. The hidden structural damage proved worse than initially assessed, which immediately placed the recovery mission at risk. The options available were very clear cut at that stage; postpone the mission; cut away or remove the damaged structure; or find a means of supporting the failing structure. After much deliberation and hasty rudimentary calculations, the failing airframe structure was ‘tied’ back into the solid bulkheads located directly above the fracture line using heavy duty military cargo straps. The Recovery lift MI-26 Helicopter's rotor disc started to ‘cone’ under the weight and the slings began to stretch and with an unruly lurch skyward, A15-103 was on its way. It was an agonising 80 minutes before we received notification that A15-103 had returned safely to KAF. The relief was immense and the RAEME guys celebrated with the typical Aussie humility.”

A15-103 currently sits on its belly being used as a fire trainer in Kandahar.
